Sharon Rayburn attended Western Carolina University and UNC Asheville. She began her teaching career in Swain County in 1978. She has taught every age from 5th grade to adults. She has several degrees, but she cannot remember what they are. She came to live and teach in McDowell County in 1985. It has been her pleasure to travel with the students of McDowell County since 1990. Over the years we have seen many amazing shows and attended countless events. She will always consider this my greatest contribution to Education.
She believes that, as educators it is our duty to prepare our students for college, careers, and life. As humans, we should also teach them to explore and enjoy this life they have before them. For what is life without joy.
