CHELSEA CORNS
Assistant Principal
I was born and raised in McDowell County and attended Appalachian State University where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education K-6 in 2016 and a Masters in School Administration in 2022. I taught for nine years before transitioning to Assistant Principal.
Working in education has always been my passion. I believe that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. I strive to be that for each of our students; as an educator who loves each child that walks in our doors and gives each of them not only an education but a passion to learn.
This year will definitely be a fun year, but as in every school year, things can and will come up. I believe that a successful year starts with an open communication line between parents/guardians. Please feel free to reach out to me on ClassDojo or by email, chelsea.corns@mcdowell.k12.nc.us anytime you have concerns.
Mission Statement:
“My mission as an educator is to instill the belief in all students that they can achieve what they set their mind to. I will give my best every day to make sure that each child that comes into our school feels welcome and loved. I will give your child relevant knowledge, the courage to try new things, and the curiosity to seek new answers, and the ability to be the best they can be. I want to help all of our students believe in themselves and find their strengths and talents. But most importantly, at the end of the day I want them to know that Mrs. Corns loves them.”
