McDowell County Schools Maintenance Department has 17 employees--(1) Director, (1) Administrative Assistant, (15) Maintenance Technicians. The Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining all schools and facilities owned by the Board of Education.
The Department has licensed or certified people in various fields; including electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Sewer Waste Water, IPM Pest Control, Grounds/Turf Management; as well as carpenters, locksmiths, and painters.
With the average age of McDowell County schools at 40 years old, despite additions and renovations, the work of the Maintenance Department has been recognized in North Carolina as outstanding!
