Two-hour delay for Tuesday, January 9, 2018

After checking roads, as well as consulting with DOT, McDowell County Schools will be on a two-hour delay Tuesday, January 9. There are scattered icy spots around the county. A delay will allow our buses and student drivers greater visibility to spot potential trouble areas during the morning commute.

2-hour Delay for January 5th, 2018

Due to forecasted sub-zero windchill temperatures across the county in the morning, McDowell County Schools will operate on a two hour delay for students Friday, January 5. This delay will allow us to make sure buses are running to help ensure students are not waiting in the cold for extended periods.

Staff are to report at regular time. Communicate with your specific site should you have an unsafe early morning situation.

Happy New Year! Due to forecasted sub-zero windchill temperatures across the county in the morning, McDowell County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students Tuesday, January 2. 2-hour Delay for 12/11/17

Due to the potential for icy spots developing around the county overnight, McDowell County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff Monday, December 11. This delay will allow buses and other drivers greater visibility to spot potential trouble areas during the morning commute.

Please make note that the Mr. MHS Pageant originally scheduled for last night will now take place this coming Saturday in the East Middle auditorium with show time set for 7:00. Come out and support this great cause with proceeds benefitting two of our own MCS families.

Friday Institute Announces Digital Leaders Coaches Network

We are excited to announce that Vickie Blankenship, Jessica Mace, Caitlin Proffitt, Sherry Dixon, Marianne Plain, and Ashley Greene have been accepted to the North Carolina Digital Leaders Coaching Network (NCDLCN).

As quickly as technology evolves, schools are charged with the responsibility of facilitating this transition to digital and personalized learning for their students. Many school districts entrust instructional technologists, coaches, media coordinators, and lead teachers with the responsibility to guide and support teachers as they continue to improve instruction. To better meet the needs of these change agents, the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation is pleased to announce a new cohort of the the Digital Leaders Coaches Network (DLCN).

Alyssa Kanipe, Adam Wisemen, and Delaine Macdonald are DLCN alumni and have been selected to serve as mentors.
