The purpose of McDowell County Schools Inspire to Innovate (i2i) After-School Program is to provide high-interest, hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) while emphasizing a growth mindset, connecting school to community careers. The i2i program will not stop with engaging activities; it will include academic support, opportunities for parents and community. The enrichment activities will support academic goals while also broadening student exposure to science, technology, engineering, arts, math while embedding career awareness and leadership education.
70% of middle grades students participating in the i2i program will improve student achievement in classroom math, science, and ELA grades, measured every 3.5 weeks.
80% of middle grades students will show teacher reported improvement in homework completion and participation in class.
80% of students will complete enrichment activities in high interest areas during the duration of the semester enrolled.
80% of students will be exposed students to professionals in order to promote careers, skills and higher education.
70% Increase in community and parent participation in middle grades programs.
